Yugen Healing is a self-care brand that is built around the ancient Chinese belief that the mind, body and soul are very closely interlinked and should be treated as such. We have created an all-encompassing program to target the inner body, outer body, mental state and emotional wellbeing.

SELF CARE

We believe that treatments used to take care of our outer body should be viewed as self-care rituals. Often times we look at our beauty routines as "flaw erasers" which can create a negative impact on our mind and body in order to meet unhealthy beauty standards.

 

At Yugen Healing we don't believe in flaws, we believe in characteristics and that to become "perfect" would be to lose character and uniqueness. Our self-care rituals are designed to keep the mind and body in optimal health and vitality creating a natural glow from within and without.

Taking care of our outer body through the use of relaxing treatments, products and smells can improve our emotional wellbeing by giving us time to relax and release any emotional build up throughout the day.

Self-care rituals can affect the inner body by helping to slow the heart rate as well as the breathing pace and regulating hormones in the body such as cortisol.

They can help to clear the mind and calm anxieties by switching our attention to the present moment and sensations of the treatment, this can help us to slow our thinking and improve concentration.

NUTRITION

We believe that the inner and outer body are very closely interlinked, it is sometimes easy to forget that the skin is an organ. This means that the condition of our skin is often times reflecting the condition of our gut.

 

Although our skin can be improved by cosmetic products which will help to suppress the symptoms, we believe that the root cause of any skin condition should also be targeted through the gut. Our organs age faster when our body is lacking in the nutrition and hydration required to maintain optimal health and vitality. The skin is no different.

Our nutrition can also have a profound impact on how we feel emotionally. If we consume high amounts of caffeine for example we may feel anxious, if we consume chocolate it may lead to a release of serotonin helping to temporarily lift our mood. If we consume depressants such as alcohol then we may feel lower than usual the following day.

As well as our external appearance and emotional state benfitting from a nutritious diet, our mental clarity can also be affected. Hydration alone can increase concentration and our ability to focus. Some foods such as lions mane mushrooms can even have a long lasting effecting on the mind by improving cognitive function and memory.

MINDFULNESS

We believe that the subconscious mind plays a vital role in our ability to stick to regimes. Starting a change of lifestyle, particularly the diet is never a comfortable experience when we are relying on our willpower.

 

When willpower is required to stick to a lifestyle change it means that we are quite literally fighting against our will. The best way to enjoy and stick to a lifestyle change is by reframing our will and what we WANT to be doing by reprogramming the subconscious mind.

Our mental state can have an effect on our body because our thoughts can lead to a fastening or slowing of our heartrate and heightening or lowering our blood pressure.

Our thoughts can effect our emotional state because focusing on positive thoughts can lead to happy emotions and a sense of calmness the same way that thinking negative thoughts would promote the opposite.

EMOTIONAL
WELLBEING

We believe that our emotional state can be very closely linked to symptoms we find appearing on our body and effecting our appearance. An example of this would be the physical effects that stress can lead to including ulcers, coldsores, thinning or loss of hair, discolouring of hair, weight loss or gain etc.

Our emotional state can also have an effect on our mindset since emotions such as anger can cause us to reduce logic, reason and patience whereas positive emotions help us to think clearly and rationally when making decisions. 

Our emotions can also take a toll on our internal body, if we feel nervous for example we may need to use the toilet more frequently. If we feel excited then our heart rate can fasten and if we're anxious our body may increase in temperature.

All of the products and treatments at Yugen Healing are designed to support this ancient Chinese belief and offer ways to balance each of these four aspects of ourselves to promote optimal health and happiness.
